      How to Safely Ship Bullion: Coins and Bars

      Shipping gold or silver bullion? Here’s how to make sure your coins and bars arrive safely and qualify for Alloy’s complimentary insurance coverage—up to $25,000 per envelope.

      1. Prepare and protect your bullion

      To prevent shifting or damage in transit, secure your items using these best practices:

      • Anchor coins and bars: Tape or wrap them to a flat surface like cardboard to minimize movement. This reduces friction and wear during shipment.

      • Seal everything tight: Use packing tape to fully secure seams and edges. The goal is to prevent your items from rattling or slipping out.

      • Reinforce as needed: If your items are heavy or unusually shaped, use extra padding or layers for added stability.

      2. Photograph your package contents

      Insurance coverage only applies if your items are properly documented. Before sealing your envelope:

      • Take clear photos of your bullion placed next to the provided FedEx® envelope.

      • Submit your photos and a brief description to your Alloy Advisor by calling or texting (888) 672-1471, or emailing hello@thealloymarket.com.

      📸 Tip: Snap photos in good lighting and capture serial numbers, if available.

      3. Use only the packaging we provide

      Your appraisal kit includes:

      • A 9½" x 12½" FedEx® envelope

      • A prepaid, trackable shipping label

      Using unauthorized packaging may void insurance coverage. If you need to ship items in alternative packaging, you must contact your Advisor first for approval.

      4. Need extra supplies?

      Whether you’re sending multiple items or need stronger packaging:

      • Call or text your Alloy Advisor at (888) 672-1471

      • They’ll provide extra FedEx® envelopes or discuss approved alternatives

      5. How to increase your insurance coverage

      Standard insurance covers up to $25,000 per envelope, but you can qualify for higher limits:

      • Contact your Advisor before you ship

      • Provide a full description and photographs of your items
